(Newark, NJ) – A celebration took a tragic turn following a deadly fire on Saturday night. A family’s home was up in flames just after midnight, after they gathered for a birthday party. Two girls, ages 6 and 8, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses say they saw people in the home jumping from windows to escape the flames. Investigators also said that the girls were seen playing with fire behind a couch. However an official cause for the fire is still under investigation. The Red Cross says they are helping a dozen people impacted.
