(Amsterdam, NY) – How big is too big when it comes to political signs? That probably depends on the location. They say everything’s bigger in Texas, for example — and many in certain parts of the Lonestar State would have no problem with a big, old Trump sign.
But here in New York? People sometimes get bent out of shape about Trump stuff. And such is the case upstate, along the New York State Thruway. A large, 100-foot-long “Vote For Trump” sign was set up by Sticker Mule CEO Anthony Constantino — he’s a known Trump supporter. It was unveiled last week.
Constantino was apparently warned ahead of time he’d potentially be in violation of code. The sign is located in the city of Amsterdam, New York — about 35 miles northwest of Albany. City officials ordered Constantino to cover the sign up, which he did, in anticipation of a hearing.
A hearing will be held Tuesday, October 8. Officials argue the sign will lead to traffic problems because people will slow down to take pictures.
In Las Vegas, local Republicans complained, after someone set up a large, nude statue that looks like former President Trump. That statue is 43-feet high. It hung from a construction crane for a while but was also taken down, perhaps due to similar concerns over stopped traffic and distractions.
