(New York, NY) – While attending the Korean Day Parade, embattled Mayor Eric Adams was asked about reports of the possible resignation or firing of First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright. On Friday, it was being reported that Wright was leaving her post and was actually escorted out of City Hall. However, Adams says that reporting is false and there have not been any official announcements on the matter.Â
Adams went on to say that once the administration is ready to announce changes in staffing, they will make it known. Wright is notably married to the City Schools Chancellor David Banks, who says he was forced to accelerate his resignation two months earlier than originally planned by the mayor. Banks and Wright’s shared home was searched by federal authorities, however no charges were filed. Meanwhile, Adams is facing a five-count federal indictment relating to corruption and bribery charges. He maintains that he has no plans on stepping down.
