(Albany, NY) — Governor Hochul is announcing three-point-five-million dollars in state funding to help build back some of Long Island’s South Shore Beaches.
The funds will help strengthen Tobay and Overlook beaches which had significant storm damage and erosion from recurring coastal storms. Hochul said. “We want to make sure the communities and infrastructure along the Long Island coastline are taken care of” and further erosion will be curtailed.
The Jones Beach Barrier Island is critical to protecting the south shore mainland communities of western Suffolk County.
