(New York, NY) – Officials are boosting police presence following attacks on Israel by Iran. Although authorities say there are no immediate threats to the city, they are keeping an eye out for possible lone-wolf attacks. Police are going to be stationed outside places of worship, especially in Jewish neighborhoods, and K-9 units will check certain areas ahead of upcoming holiday services.

These events come just before Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, which starts on Wednesday night. This year also marks one year since the attack on Israel on October 7th. Mayor Eric Adams emphasized that the NYPD is taking steps to ensure everyone’s safety, especially during this important time for the Jewish community.

Governor Kathy Hochul has also ordered state police to increase patrols in areas that may be at risk. Many synagogues and religious centers had already improved their security due to previous tensions. The NYPD remains on alert to protect New Yorkers of all faiths.
