(Plains, GA) – Happy birthday to former US President Jimmy Carter! He is now 100 years old, the first-ever US president to reach that milestone. Despite battling health issues in recent years, Carter reached the century mark, and made history.
A noted philanthropist who worked with Habitat for Humanity for years, Carter’s presidency was beset by a series of challenges, including the Iranian hostage crisis. US energy prices also spiked throughout his time in office, as a result of the oil crisis.
Carter — celebrating his 100th birthday today — is already the longest living president in US history. Last month a star-studded concert was held in Atlanta to mark and celebrate Carter’s birthday. He entered hospice care in February 2023 and survives his late wife Rosalynn Carter, who passed last November.
