Per multiple outlets, Manchester City midfielder Rodri has sustained a torn ACL in his right knee and will miss the rest of the season as a result of the injury.
Sources told ESPN on Monday that tests revealed that Rodri suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in his right knee during Sunday’s draw with Arsenal  During the Sky Blues’ 2-2 draw with the Gunners on Sunday at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England, Rodri collided with Thomas Partey in the 15th minute, and was substituted in the 21st minute by Mateo Kovacic after going down clutching his knees, while later seen limping off the field.  Sunday’s game was Rodri’s first start in the Premier League this season; he did not log a goal or assist in his first two Premier League appearances this season.
Rodri, 28, is expected to undergo surgery on the knee in Barcelona. He joined the Sky Blues in 2019, is one of the favorites to win 2024 Ballon d’Or honors. Rodri finished fifth in voting for last year’s Ballon d’Or, which is presented annually by France Football magazine to the best soccer player in the world.
The Sky Blues will host Watford in an EFL Cup match at 2:45 p.m. EDT Tuesday in Manchester. They will take on Newcastle in a Premier League match Sept. 28 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
