(Point Pleasant, NJ) — Divers, 200 miles offshore from Massachusetts have found the wreckage of a French ocean liner that was lost there 168 years ago. Atlantic Wreck Salvage says its divers found the Le Lyonnais in about 200 feet of water. The ship collided with another ship, the Adriatic back on November 2nd, 1856. 132 people were onboard the Le Lyonnais. 116 of them died.

Le Lyonnais was a steamship that was built in England. It was carrying passengers and mail between England and America on it’s first trip when it hit the Adriatic, an American sailing vessel.
