(Springfield, OH) — Former President Trump says he’s headed to Springfield, Ohio, after making claims that Haitian immigrants were eating pets. Mayor Rob Rue thinks it’s a bad idea for the time-being, saying safety is his number one concern. Democrats say these types of false allegations are distracting from the real issues.
Businesses in Springfield, Ohio are still getting bomb threats because of claims about immigrants. Local police on Wednesday (September 18) evacuated two Walmart stores and two Kroger locations as the city faces the ongoing backlash from claims about Haitians eating dogs and from hate towards immigrants. The claims have been denied by Ohio Govenor Mike DeWine and other local officials. Schools, universities and government offices have also been targeted with bomb threats over the past week.
Former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will be hosting a town hall discussion in Springfield, and says he has invited “diverse voices” from the community to participate.
