(New York, NY) – The COVID-era is a period of time that most New Yorkers likely prefer to forget. But for the so-called New York City “COVID Czar” it was a wild and randy time that he’s happy to discuss.
Video that was seemingly secretly recorded inside a restaurant shows Dr. Jay Varma sharing details about his COVID experience. A staffer working for comedian Steven Crowder recorded it. Dr. Varma says while he was running the city’s response to COVID for Mayor de Blasio, he was out sneaking around — taking drugs like molly (ecstasy) and attending underground dance parties, in violation of lockdown rules.
Perhaps most surprisingly, Dr. Varma says he was even booking hotel rooms to meet up with friends for “deviant sexual stuff.” He also admits New Yorkers would be “pissed” if they found out about it.
Now, Queens Councilman Robert Holden demands a full probe into the situation. At present, Dr. Varma is serving as the Chief Medical Advisor for a pharmaceutical company, and is no longer employed by the city.
