(Tel Aviv, Israel) — The head of Israel’s security agency detailing Thursday how they foiled a plot last month to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Shin Bet says Iran recruited an Israeli Jew to carry out the assassination, sneaking him into Iran to plot out a plan. He was busted as he received payments from Iranian leaders.
Shin Bet says the 73-year-old Israeli was smuggled into Iran twice and received payments to carry out missions on behalf of Tehran.
The security agency announcing the arrest less than 48 hours after thousands of Hezbollah members were injured when their pagers exploded on Tuesday. Many intelligence leaders around the world believe Israel was behind the “James Bond” like attack on the Lebanon based terror group.
