Hunter Biden Changes Plea

(Los Angeles, CA) – Hunter Biden is attempting to settle his federal tax evasion case in California through an “Alford plea,” where he maintains his innocence but acknowledges there’s enough evidence to convict him. His attorneys revealed this potential plea just before jury selection was set to begin. The final decision rests with District Judge Mark Scarsi, a Trump appointee, who has yet to approve the arrangement.

An Alford plea would allow Biden to accept sentencing without admitting guilt. However, prosecutors from special counsel David Weiss’ team have expressed opposition to this approach. Prosecutor Leo Wise stated he was unaware of the plea change until it was mentioned in court.

Hunter Biden faces nine tax-related charges, including three felonies. Prosecutors allege he evaded $1.4 million in taxes, spending money on luxury items instead. Although Biden eventually paid $2 million in back taxes and penalties after getting sober, the judge ruled his legal team cannot mention the late payments or his past struggles with addiction during the trial.

This case follows Biden’s conviction on federal gun charges earlier this year. Despite speculation, President Joe Biden has consistently stated he will not pardon his son, though the possiility of a pardon or sentence commutation remains.
