(New York, NY) – FBI agents have raided the homes belonging to two top officials in the Adams administration. The two homes searched belong to Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and deputy mayor for public safety, Philip Banks III. Wright notably shares a home with the Schools Chancellor David C. Banks. According to the New York Times, it is not yet known whether Wright, Banks – or possibly both – were the targets in that search.
Also among the homes raided by the FBI was NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban. No details on the charges associated with the search have been made public.
The raids happened early on Wednesday as confirmed by law enforcement sources. The searches are linked to a federal corruption investigation into Mayor Adams 2021 campaign. Federal agents have previously searched the homes of other administration officials and close aides such as the Director of Asian Affairs, Winnie Greco. Adams himself has had to turn over his own electronic devices to the FBI. Chief counsel to the mayor, Lisa Zornberg, said in a statement that the mayor is cooperating and as a former law enforcement officer, Adams always urges his team to follow the law.
