Four other victims, ranging in age from 16 to 69, are said to be in stable condition. The NYPD is still searching for the shooter, a man in his twenties, who was wearing a paint-stained brown shirt and a black bandana. They say he leaped onto a barrier and opened fire into the crowd along the Eastern Parkway parade route in Crown Heights. Police say this was a targeted shooting.
Mayor Eric Adams is defending the City’s preparations leading up the parade, saying police had cameras, drones, checkpoints and more. Officials say nearly one million people attended the parade that is infamous for being surrounded by violence. The shooting happened near the route on Franklin Avenue and Eastern Parkway.
