(New York, NY) — The big three area airports and local highways are expected to get really busy Thursday afternoon as people across the Tri-State start their Labor Day weekend getaway a little early. The Port Authority says six million travelers are expected to use its airports, bridges and tunnels through Tuesday. Triple A says the worst travel times will be Thursday afternoon into Thursday night and then again Friday afternoon.

Gas prices are 42 cents less per gallon in New York than last Labor Day weekend. The Triple A’s Robert Sinclair says New York City is a top five travel destination for Labor Day weekend, so expect roads to be pretty busy.
