Suffolk County Marcus Castro / USA TODAY NETWORK

(Hauppauge, NY) — A Long Island mother charged in a car crash that killed her young son is being arraigned this morning. Kerri Bedrick was driving the wrong way on the Southern State Parkway early Thursday with police pursuing her. Instead of pulling over, the 32-year-old Centerport woman sped up, crashing into at least four other cars. Her nine-year-old son Eli suffered unsurvivable injuries and later died. State troopers say Bedrick failed sobriety tests. She’s being hit with multiple charges including aggravated DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, driving while drug impaired and endangering the welfare of a child.
