(New York, NY) — Three men who were posing as utility workers, were able to make their way into a Queens home this week and rob the people inside. Police say a woman and her son were in their Ridgewood house Tuesday afternoon, when the men showed up and told them there was a gas leak they needed to check on. The woman let the trio in, and moments later the fake utility workers pulled out guns and held the mom and son at gunpoint. The crew stole thousands of dollars in cash and jewels before exiting the home. The woman and son were not harmed.

Neighbors say the ordeal has everyone freaked out and buying ring cameras.

The group, Utilities United Against Scams is telling homeowners in Queens to check worker IDs when they knock on the door, and call their utility company if they show up unannounced.
