Where Will the Migrants Go?

syndication-el-paso-times-50

Migrants arrive at a city shelter.

(New York, NY) – New York City is expanding its 60-day shelter limits to more migrant facilities. After receiving approval from the state, the time limit now applies to the 30-thousand migrant families living in shelters run by the Department of Homeless Services.

Deputy Mayor Anne Williams-Isom says New York is doing more than any other city by offering 30 days of shelter to single migrants and 60 days of shelter to families before they need to leave for other accommodations or reapply to stay in the system

Mayor Adams says its financially unsustainable to take care of the more than 200-thousand migrants living in city facilities, adding people should not be in shelters their entire lives, especially children.
