(New York, NY) – Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is ending his campaign for the White House. After attempting a primary challenge against President Biden as a Democrat, RFK Jr. went a different route, and got the signatures needed to appear on state’s ballots as an Independent.
But that effort was sidetracked by lawsuits from Democrats — including a court action in New York, which resulted in RFK Jr. being removed from the ballot. Reportedly the ongoing legal challenges associated with the independent campaign drained Kennedy Jr.’s coffers, and made continuing that much more difficult. An appeal of New York’s decision had been expected — it involved a form RFK Jr. had filled out, claiming his residence in Westchester County.
After announcing his exit from the presidential race, RFK Jr. announced he will be endorsing former President Trump — the Republican candidate. He said Trump best embodies his ideals and principles about governing. He blasted the majority of the news media during his comments, suggesting they have failed to properly protect democracy.
There’s a suggestion that Trump would name RFK Jr. to his cabinet or some prominent federal position if he were to win. Both men share certain “anti-establishment” positions, including clashes with the pharmaceutical sector. A phone call posted online back during the RNC showed Trump calling RFK Jr. and courting his endorsement.
