(Brooklyn, NY) – A horrific crime out of Brooklyn is angering New York City residents, particularly when it comes to questions over immigration policy and the approach to crime. It was on Sunday night near the Coney Island boardwalk when a 46-year-old woman was raped at knifepoint. Cops say 24-year-old David Davon-Bonilla, a Nicaraguan migrant, raped the victim.

His alleged accomplice, 37-year-old Leovando Moreno of Mexico, is accused of standing watch during the attack. He also allegedly bashed the victim’s boyfriend when he tried to intervene. Reports say the man had left his girlfriend briefly to get them coffee. The 34-year-old boyfriend wasn’t seriously hurt and refused medical attention at the scene.

Reports say the sexual assault took place at Surf Avenue and 16th Street — just outside a hotel that’s being used as a taxpayer-funded migrant shelter.

Outrage has only grown as a result of reports surrounding one of the suspects — Davon-Bonilla. He was previously accused of raping and sodomizing a woman at a shelter inside a La Quinta in Brooklyn. But prosecutors cut a plea deal with him and he was freed — leading to this latest alleged assault at his hands.
