(New York, NY) – Torrential rains flooded the Tri-state area Tuesday night, causing road closures and flight delays. The National Weather Service says to expect wet weather through Saturday evening, when skies are expected to finally clear.
By Tuesday (August 6th) afternoon, extensive delays were being felt at all three major metropolitan airports, with over an hour on departing flights at JFK, LaGuardia and Newark Airports. Arrivals were being held at their origin.
New York City Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol said extra crews were put on to assist in clearing drains and catch basins, hoping to mitigate any flooding that might affect residents living in basement and lower level apartments.
By the end of this week we should expect the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby, then finally by Sunday morning we’ll have sunny skies.
