(Oakdale, New York) – A 62-year-old Long Island woman lost her life Sunday morning while trying to save her dog. Catherine Andreau, 62, of Babylon, drowned around 1:30am while trying to rescue her pup who fell into the water during their stay at a houseboat along the Connetquot River. Andreau wasn’t found until early the next morning. The dog was found the next morning and survived the incident.
Police pronounced Andreau dead at the scene.
