(New York, New York) – Anti-Israel protestors filled Times Square Wednesday afternoon. The group of over 300 waved around Hezbollah and Hamas flags, chanting ‘Free Palestine’. Other protestors held up photos of Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas’ top political leader who was assassinated earlier this week.
There was also a pro-Israel rally close by. At one point two Israeli supporters were surrounded by pro-Palestinian protesters, and eyewitnesses say they threw some sort of liquid onto the Israel supporters. Six protesters were taken into custody. No word what they have been charged with.
The protest comes less than 24 hours after Haniyeh was killed in an airstrike while at his residence in Tehran, an attack which no one has taken responsibility for.
