(Rahway, NJ) — A Perth Amboy police officer was shot three times Wednesday night while executing a search warrant in nearby Rahway. Neighbors say they heard the gunfire around 9 p.m. along Broad Street. The unnamed officer was among a group of cops when he was shot. He was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Rahway Mayor Raymond Giacobbe says he was told one of the bullets hit the officer in the leg. Doctors say the officer is in stable condition and is expected to recover. Three men involved in the shooting have be taken into custody.
