(Austin, TX) — Elon Musk just lost 16-billion dollars in one day. Shares in Tesla collapsed on Wednesday, causing the CEO’s net worth to plummet from 249-billion dollars to 232-billion dollars, according to Forbes. Stock in the electric car company dropped over eleven percent after Tesla’s second-quarter earnings fell short of expectations. Musk is still the world’s richest person, and is worth about 30-billion dollars more than the second richest person, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Meanwhile, a coalition of environmental groups are trying to shut down Elon Musk’s South Texas Spaceport. They’ve sent a letter to the feds, claiming the SpaceX launches are destroying migratory birds. Peter Galvan with the Center for Biological Diversity says the launches have destroyed bird nests near Boca Chica that are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. And, he says, the FAA needs to step in. The letter comes about one week after Musk announced on social media that he plans to move the SpaceX headquarters from California to Texas.
