(New York, New York) – After President Joe Biden bowed out of the race for the White House Sunday, many Democrats rushed to back Kamala Harris as the new nominee to take on former President Donald Trump, while others have stayed silent.  Biden endorsed Harris on Sunday, followed by the powerful Congressional Black Caucus, several key donors, various lawmakers and super PACs including Priorities USA and Unite the Country. Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were among the pool of politicians to endorse Harris in the hours after Mr. Biden’s announcement. Even California Governor Gavin Newsom, who has flirted with a White House run himself backed Harris tweeting, “Tough. Fearless. Tenacious”.

Former President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer have commended President Biden in the wake of the withdrawal but did not endorse Harris in her fight for the presidency.
