(Washington, D.C.) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says he welcomes GOP Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance’s stance on ending military and financial support for Ukraine. Vance has expressed doubts about continuing assistance to the war-torn nation. Ukraine has been dependent on American weapons and money to fight off the Russian invasion for more than two years. Lavrov told reporters on Wednesday that Moscow believes Vance’s position could mean the end of U.S. weapon shipments to the Ukraine and help the Russians end the war. The Biden campaign says it’s no surprise that Moscow supports former President Trump and Vance. They say a Trump-Vance White House would send a signal to dictators around the world that the United States will not protect its allies.
