(Washington, D.C.) — Politico is reporting that George Clooney talked with former President Barack Obama before the actor called for President Biden to bow out of the race for the White House yesterday. The report cites people familiar with the conversation who say while Obama didn’t encourage Clooney to go public with his concerns, he didn’t object to it either. In a “New York Times” op-ed, Clooney said he recently hosted a fundraiser for Biden, and noted he was not the Joe Biden of 2010, “or even the Joe Biden of 2020.” He wrote that Democrats stand to lose the White House, Senate and House with Biden on the ticket.
