(Hot, Dog) – The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest has become a well-respected ritual in America every 4th of July. This year was a little different than usual, we saw no Joey Chestnut, a world record being smashed in the Woman’s Weiner Division and even a potential cheater this past 4th. The New York Post is reporting that Nick Wehry, husband of WWC (Woman Weiner Champion) Miki Sudo, may have cheated during the contest.
Wehry has caught wind of the allegations and is shocked telling the post, “I would never cheat at a contest, regardless of why. People that know me know that… If MLE (Major League Eating) determines I was miscounted then fix my number. My placing did not change if this was the case. I would never want to take a placing or number I didn’t earn,”
Wehry is accused of stealing a plate from one of his opponents and putting it in his stack, wiener count is tallied by the amount of empty plates in the stack, one plate = 5 dogs.
However, Wehry isn’t the only dirty dog who’s cheated in the contest, click below to listen to 77’s Nino DeNino speak to Curtis Sliwa recount the events that unfolded on July 4th, and even recount his own experience cheating in the contest.
