Beware The Latest Text Scam

scam-alert

Texts are going out saying that people need to pay for a recent trip to avoid extra fees. It's the latest scam trying to make money on the busy travel season.

(New York, NY) – Drivers are hitting the roads for the busy Summer travel season, but there are already some people trying to spoil the fun. Scammers have been targeting motorists in a new phishing scam via text.
The New York State Thruway Authority made a post on “X”, the platform formerly known as Twitter, warning drivers that E-ZPass or Tolls By Mail will never send out any requests for contact via email or cell phone. The agency warned against any disclosure of personal information like user names, credit card numbers, or social security numbers.

If you are looking to check in on your account or any pending tolls, the best move is to go through the official websites for E-ZPass and Tolls by Mail NY.
