(Miami, FL) – The National Hurricane Center is sounding the alarm on Hurricane Beryl – the first category 3 storm of this hurricane season. Forecasters say that it could even develop further to a more dangerous Category 4 storm.
Hurricane warnings are in effect for the islands of Barbados, St. Lucia, Grenada, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.Beryl is the second named storm in what is expected to be a very busy storm season. The storms are fueled by the quick snap from El Nino to La Nina currents and the record warm temperatures that have been reported in the Atlantic Ocean.
The last time a hurricane of this magnitude developed before July 4th was more than 50 years ago when Hurricane Alma hit the Florida Keys in 1966. Meteorologists say hurricane season is expected to run through November 1st.
