(New York, NY) — The G-train summer long shutdown begins tonight. The part of the G line between Long Island City, Queens and Kensington, Brooklyn will be suspended 24/7 until September 3rd. The MTA is working to replace the G’s 1930s-era subway signals with more modern technology, which will allow trains to run faster and more frequently. In the meantime, the MTA will run free shuttle bus service along the G’s corridor, with wait times between buses reported to be around one minute during the weekday rush to as long as ten minutes during overnight hours and on weekends.
