(New York, NY) – New York state officials are providing anglers the chance to fish for free this weekend. On both Saturday June 29, and Sunday June 30, the state’s fishing licensure requirement will be waived.
This applies to New York’s many freshwater lakes, ponds, streams, and rivers. Governor Hochul has expressed her hope that free fishing days will give New Yorkers the opportunity to enjoy the state’s numerous beautiful spots. That said, there is the potential for rainy conditions this particular weekend.
New York’s Free Fishing Days program first launched back in 1991 as a way to try and encourage first-time fishers to take up the hobby.
