Hamas says it’s ready to talk ceasefire

(Tel Aviv, Israel) — The leader of Hamas says his terror group is “ready for a comprehensive deal” for a ceasefire in Gaza. Ismail Haniyeh made the comments Sunday night in a speech on TV. Haniyeh also called for a “comprehensive swap” of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners. The Iran-backed terror group Hezbollah has reportedly advised Hamas to be “flexible” when it comes to an American brokered deal to end the war in Gaza.

It’s not entirely clear if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin is onboard with the latest ceasefire deal before him. Netanyahu has said there are problems with the plan, and that he will not agree to any permanent ceasefire in Gaza until Israel meets all of it’s goals in Gaza.

The American ceasefire plan involves a six-week ceasefire where the Israeli army would withdraw from portions of Gaza. Some hostages would be exchanged for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. Humanitarian aid would also flow into Gaza. The second part of the plan would involve Israel and Gaza negotiating the final terms for a permanent end to the war. The final phase of the ceasefire deal would be a plan to reconstruct the portions of Gaza that have been destroyed.
