(New York, New York) – Just when you think everyone’s against congestion pricing, a wave of people in favor of the plan are coming out strong. A professor at Columbia University will be pursuing multiple lawsuits on behalf of advocators of mass transit challenging New York Governor Kathy Hochul and her pause of congestion pricing. Professor Michael Gerrard is joining the dozens of legal experts already on rack to sue Hochul.
The lawsuits come in response to the decision to pause the congestion pricing plan. During a pro-congestion pricing rally yesterday, Gerrard said the congestion pricing fight could trigger an Article 78 hearing, questioning the state’s failure to implement the law. He also said they’re exploring several possible legal responses to Hochul’s move, which may violate multiple state laws.
