(New York, NY) — More than 150-thousand people have applied to the city’s Section Eight Housing Choice Voucher program that provides rental aid for low-income families. This is the first time in 15 years that the New York City Housing Authority is reopening its waitlist for Section Eight housing applications. The application window opened yesterday and will last until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 9th. NYCHA officials say within nine hours more than 150-thousand people had submitted applications. They say 200-thousand applicants will be randomly selected. More information is available online, and it’s free to apply.
