(New York, New York) – New York’s annual Israel Day on 5th Parade is this Sunday, and the NYPD say it is ready tp protect marchers. They say security will be similar to New Year’s Eve in Times Square. People can expect security checks and metal detector wands checking spectators all over the parade route. The city is expecting tens of thousands of spectators to line 5th Avenue.
This year the parade will be a little different. Typically you see a celebration of proud Israel heritage with music and bands. This year, the theme will be to bring the hostages in Gaza home.
Counter-protests are planned on Friday with a walk-out expected in some New York City schools.
