(Washington, DC) — Former Georgia Senate candidate and longtime Libertarian, Chase Oliver has won the Libertarian party nomination for President. The nod to Chase comes after the party rejected both former President Donald Trump and independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as their nominee. Both candidates spoke before the Libertarian convention over the weekend. Trump told attendees that if Libertarians did not nominate him, they would continue getting just three percent in every presidential election.
The 38-year-old Oliver calls himself an activist from Atlanta. On his campaign website, he calls for balancing the budget, abolishing the death penalty, and ending military support to Israel and Ukraine. Democrats and Republicans have quietly worried about how Oliver’s campaign may hurt their party’s chances come November. They wonder if Oliver could pick off some of their support for his stance as a pro-immigration, pro-criminal justice reform candidate.
