(New York, NY) —  The TSA says they broke a record on Friday, when more than two-point-nine-million airline passengers were screened at airports nationwide. That’s the highest number ever on a single day. The agency says that beats the previous record that was set on the Sunday after Thanksgiving  in 2023.

The Triple-A says it looks like Americans will break the record this year for the most people ever traveling by car over the Memorial day weekend. 44-million were expected to drive 50 milers or more by Monday night. Triple-A says roads across the country have been packed all weekend and business has been brisk at gas stations. Gas prices have come down over the last month, which is good news for Americans looking to travel through the summer. On Friday, the national average for gasoline was $3.61 per gallon, down five cents from last month, but five cents higher than it was this time last year.
