(New York, NY) – The New York City Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy on a person who was struck and killed along the subway tracks in Manhattan on Friday. It happened shortly before 9:30 AM near the 28th Street and Lexington Avenue stop.
Reports say the operator of an express 4-train saw human remains on the tracks and hit the emergency brake, but couldn’t stop the train before it passed over the body or body parts. The NYPD responded and service was suspended for a time between 86th Street and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Wall Street.
Delays were extensive throughout the morning and into the afternoon as service slowly worked to get back to normal. This comes as the busy summer travel season has gotten underway this Memorial Day Weekend.
