(New York, NY) — Bullets flew at a baby shower in Richmond Hill, Queens over the weekend, killing a 24-year-old and injuring three others. The gunfire took place around 1:30 a.m. Saturday inside a party space known as Volume 17 on Atlantic Avenue. Neighbors, who have complained about the club for months say they heard the gunfire. Police and EMTs raced to the scene. They took the 24-year-old to the hospital where he passed away. Three other men were treated for bullets to the leg and arms. They are all expected to make a full recovery.
Police did not detail a motive for the shooting, and they are still searching for the gunman. There is surveillance video that shows people scattering after the first bullets were fired. Right next to the party space is a children’s dance studio. Bullet holes were found in the studio. Neighbors say they are starting a petition to have the party space shut down.
