(New York, NY) — Dozens of people were arrested this morning when the NYPD cleared out protests at NYU and The New School. 44 were cuffed at the New School. 13 at NYU. The NYPD Chief of Patrol  says both schools asked them to bring the cops in and end the protests. Police arrived on both Greenwich Village campuses around 6 a.m.

Protesters at Columbia University, who insisted police fired a shot while clearing the campus Tuesday night were right. The Manhattan DA’s office confirmed that an officer did fire a weapon once while clearing protestors out of Columbia’s Hamilton Hall. A source telling the New York Post it was a single shot. No one was hurt. The DA’s office is investigating.

Things are cooling down on the campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey after pro Palestinian supporters packed up their encampment yesterday. They were given a late afternoon deadline to break down the tents or risk being charged with trespassing.
