(Los Angeles, CA) — Hundreds of police officers in riot gear have been doing battle with anti-Israel protesters on the UCLA campus today. Officers arrived at the Los Angeles university around 3 a.m. Some of the demonstrators threw items at them, others sprayed the officers with fire extinguishers. Police are dismantling the pro-Palestinian tent city on the campus. Arrests are being made.

On Wednesday, there were violent clashes between pro and anti-Israel supporters. Witnesses say people used sticks and bottles, and there are unconfirmed reports of knives. There were several injuries. An LAPD riot squad came in and stopped the violence. Some students on campus say the majority of the protesters are activists from outside of the school. UCLA cancelled classes on Wednesday and they have done so again today as police try to clear protesters out.

In New York, over a dozen people are now facing charges after the NYPD cleared out a protest encampment on the campus of Fordham University on Wednesday. Police ended up making 15 arrests after pushing demonstrators off the the Lincoln Center campus. Those students are receiving suspension notices.
