(Verona, NJ) — A 61-year-old grandfather and his 6 month old grandson were killed in Verona, New Jersey Monday night, when a tree fell on them. First responders found them in the backyard of their home on East Lincoln Street around 7 p.m. They were both pronounced dead a short time later. Police are unsure what brought down the tree. There were some violent storms blowing through portions of New Jersey on Monday evening. It’s unclear if the weather led to the tree falling over.
The Verona Police, Fire and Rescue Squad released a statement last night, saying “Our thoughts are focused on the family during this difficult and unfathomable tragic time.” “Please keep this family in your prayers.”
