(New York, NY) — The clock is ticking as negotiations continue between Columbia University leaders and anti-Israel protesters who continue to demonstrate on campus in Morningside Heights. University administrators say the demonstrators have less than 24 hours to clear out the encampment or they will be forced to take action. Protesters on and off campus continue to advocate for Palestinians. The protestors want amnesty for any students who may have been arrested or suspended as a result of the demonstrations. The school announced Wednesday it has made “important progress” with demonstrators. That includes students agreeing that only Columbia students can be inside the encampment on campus.

Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson was at Columbia University on Wednesday, demanding its president resign unless she reigns in, what he calls Anti-Semitic protests. Johnson said no Jewish student should have to live in fear. Jewish students on the Columbia campus say they have been harassed by protestors. Johnson says he’s going to speak with President Biden about the situation, and raised the possibility of calling in the National Guard to end the protests.
