In recent days dozens of students have been arrested for taking part in anti-Israel protests that were determined to have crossed the line into trespassing.

(New York, NY) – Upward of 150 people are facing charges after being detained during an anti-Israel protest at NYU on Monday night. This followed extended protests at Columbia University, which led school officials to holding classes online-only at the beginning on the week. It also came on the eve of Passover, a major Jewish holiday.

Reports say students were told to disperse from an area near Gould Plaza at NYU’s campus around 4:00 PM on Monday. Some in the group called their setup a “Gaza Solidarity” encampment. That’s similar to what’s been going on at Columbia for a week or so, after students set up tents at a campus lawn.

As for NYU, it was around 8:30 PM on Monday night when cops moved in and began removing people who refused to comply. At least one anti-Israel protester was seen walking toward cops with lit flares. Some hand their hands zip tied and they were then loaded into NYPD vans. Last week at Columbia University upward of 110 students were detained in similar fashion.

Up at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, 40 students were arrested when cops wearing riot gear moved in to break up an established encampment on that Ivy League school’s campus.
