Republicans say it’s time to defund NPR

(Washington, DC) — Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz says it’s time for Congress to defund National Public Radio. He’s responding to a bombshell report from a former senior editor at NPR, who exposed what he called a rampant liberal bias at the radio network. American taxpayers fund a portion of their radio broadcasts. Cruz says Democrats in the Senate will never let NPR funding lapse, because they love having a liberal mouthpiece paid for by Americans.

The explosive essay was penned by NPR’s Uri Berliner. He said that an open-minded spirit no longer exists within public media. NPR was none too happy with Berliner’s essay and suspended him with out pay for five days. He then quit the network on Wednesday. Berliner worked for NPR for 25 years. He says he does not support calls to defund them, but he says they need to rethink how the deliver the news. The 67-year-old criticized NPR’s coverage of Russiagate, Hunter Biden’s laptop, and COVID. He also accused the network of downplaying incidents of antisemitism across the United States after the October 7th Hamas attack on Israel.
