(New York, NY) — Canadian fire officials are predicting another devastating wildfire season, and with that smoke from those fires will likely travel here again to New York  They say widespread drought conditions last winter, along with higher than normal temperatures this summer will make for a tough drawn out fire season. More than six-thousand wildfires burned last summer in Canada, spreading smoke to New York City and prompting smoke alerts. Last summer’s wildfires destroyed tens of millions of acres of land in Canada, forcing many people from their homes. Canada’s wildfire season runs from May through October.
