(New York, NY) — The New York City council has green lighted the huge Willets Point redevelopment plan for Queens. It includes a 25-thousand seat soccer stadium for the New York City Football Club, 14-hundred affordable housing units, a hotel and 150-thousand square feet of public space. It will be located right near Citi field and the Tennis Center. The fully-electric stadium is slated to open in time for the 2027 season and the Willets Point development is expected to bring more than six-billion dollars to the local economy.
