(Neptune, NJ) — The cashier who sold the winning ticket in the one-billion-dollar Mega Millions lottery jackpot says she’s excited someone in her hometown in Neptune won. New Jersey lottery officials are waiting for the winner to come forward. TiYahna Bambaata says she wishes she could remember who bought the ticket at the ShopRite Liquor on Route 66 in Neptune. Bambaata has worked at the store for three years and plans to become a physician’s assistant. The owner of the ShopRite store — which received a 30-thousand dollar commission for selling the ticket — plans to turn over the money to the ShopRite Partners in Caring Program, which supports charities fighting food insecurity.
There had been 30 straight drawings without a winner, causing the pot to grow to the fifth largest in the game’s history. At least three other tickets worth one or two million dollars were sold in New York.
